Exchange students

Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) welcomes international students coming under bilateral or exchange agreements.

With its high academic standards combined with innovative learning approaches MESI is preparing its students to play an active role in a globalised, knowledge-based society, and is doing its best to ensure that the learning environment is friendly, and international students feel safe and comfortable.

MESI has agreements with universities around the world, participates in a number of international programs and projects, and provides a wide range of study opportunities for international students. MESI offers high quality educational programs for which international students from partner universities may apply for one or two semesters.

Course catalogue

As an international exchange student you may choose from a broad range of programs and courses taught in either Russian or English.

Admission for exchange students

Exchange students under bilateral or exchange agreements usually study at MESI for one or two semesters. The autumn semester starts in the first week of September and the spring semester starts in the second week of February.

Exchange students at MESI may choose courses taught in either Russian or English, or sign up for Russian language crash courses on any level.

Exchange students may also participate in many extra-curricular activities MESI offers. Since social and cultural activities help international students learn more about Russia and its traditions.

International exchange students admitted by MESI are provided with all necessary support, including visa support and accommodation in the student residence. MESI passport and visa office issues official letters of invitation to international students if required, and assists with the following registration within the territory of Russia.

Deadlines

The application must be completed before:

  • June 1 for the autumn semester (September - January)
  • November 1 for the spring semester (February - July)

Admission for Erasmus+ students

European students from the universities which have an Erasmus+ interinstitutional agreement with MESI may spend one or two semesters at MESI as part of their studies.

You must apply through your home university. Please contact your university's Erasmus+ coordinator or international office to find out if you are eligible for exchange to MESI.

If you are nominated to do an exchange at MESI, your home university will contact MESI International Relations Department.

Erasmus+ students must also fill out the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for studies:

How to apply†

To find out if you may apply, you should contact the international office at your home university, and inquire if your home university has either bilateral or exchange agreements with MESI. To be eligible for admission to exchange or Erasmus+, you must meet the requirements of your home university.†


MESI’s partner institutions must inform MESI International Relations Department of nominated students by sending an official nomination letter.†

Nominated students must fill out an†application form†and send it together with the required documents to MESI International Relations Department.†

Student housing

MESI and its campus are located in the western part of Moscow, not far from the city center. MESIís student residence offers comfortable and convenient campus living. All exchange students are assigned a room (shared) on campus, if on-campus rooms are available, or affordable student housing off campus.

All the rooms are fully furnished and have Internet access. There are shared kitchens and laundry in either on-campus or off-campus residences. The residencies have certain rules that all residents should comply with.

Students should apply for residence at the same time they apply for admission. Students who withdraw or are expelled from the university or violate rules of the student residence are no longer allowed to live in the residence.
